Welcome to Bayside Badminton Club!
Before attending the club for the 1st time, please read the info below plus our Club rules and code of conduct and our COVID Information page.
When do you play?
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.30pm – 10pm and Wednesday from 9.00am – 11.30am. Closed most public holidays, any exceptions to this will be advertised on our socials – Facebook and Instagram.
Players who are new to night sessions at BBC will need to come for a tryout to assess that you have rally skill and are safe to play.
What playing standard do I have to be at?
Unfortunately we are not able to cater for complete beginners. You’ll need to be an advanced beginner who can hold a good 20 – 30 shot rally to the back of the court and know where to stand on court. Session organisers will assess your skills during your first visit to see how you go and to ensure safety before you can join.
How much does it cost?
Visitor fees are $15.00 a session which includes shuttles and court hire, cash only (exact amount preferred as limited options for change). For full pricing information, click HERE. A membership program is available which gives you discounted rates per session
What can I expect at the club?
We have 4 courts at the Sandringham Youth Centre and we play social doubles games. Session organisers arrange the games – usually two games to 21 points. We aim to arrange games that maximise participation and enjoyment for all. The club provides feathered shuttles free of charge and we also have racquets for hire. We use the simplified scoring method
How Our Sessions Work
Our club sessions are designed to be safe, enjoyable, and inclusive. We aim to provide fair matchups, plenty of game time, and a welcoming environment for everyone.
Game Organisation
-
Games are organised by the session coordinator to ensure fair and balanced matchups based on players’ skill levels.
-
For safety, lower-grade players are not placed in games with higher-grade players. This helps prevent injuries and ensures everyone has a positive experience.
-
We regularly mix up pairings to give everyone the chance to play with different partners and opponents.
-
The focus is on fun, fitness, and good sportsmanship — in line with the BBC Player Code of Conduct.
Court Rotation
-
Games are played to a set number of points (usually 21, or 15 during busy sessions).
-
After each game, players rotate off so new games can be arranged.
-
We aim to keep waiting times short and all courts in use to maximise playing time.
Warm-Up Times
-
Players may warm up for 2–3 minutes before their first game using old shuttles.
-
To keep things moving, warm-up time is only allowed before your first game of the session.
Skill Levels
-
Our players range from intermediate to advanced levels.
-
If you’re new, we’ll help you find games that match your skill level — so you can enjoy competitive but friendly play.
Equipment
-
Please bring your own racket and non-marking badminton shoes.
-
High-quality feather shuttles are provided by the club for consistency and better game quality.
Sportsmanship
-
We promote respect, encouragement, and fair play in everything we do.
-
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome — feel free to speak with a committee member if you have ideas for improving our sessions.
